Adult and Paediatric Neuro Physiotherapist
Patricia completed her BSc. Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University in the Western Cape in 2015. She completed her community service at Bertha Gxowa hospital in Germiston, where she worked closely in a multidisciplinary team of fellow physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dieticians, clinical psychologist and a speech & audiologist. Here she learnt the importance of team work and the positive impact a team makes on an individual. She treated patients with varied conditions that included orthopaedics, respiratory conditions, adult & paediatric neurology. She was also involved in an Early childhood intervention programme consisting of all team members of the multidisciplinary team. This programme included education and screening for children with possible neurological fallout. The aim was to prevent delayed therapy and promote the awareness of developmental delays. Patricia has always had a special interest in adult and paediatric neurology.
After graduating, Patricia has completed a few courses related to neurological conditions and tools that help within this field. A few of these courses include: SANTA introduction to Cerebral Palsy, Basic Shonaquip seating, Traumatic Brain Injury and recently Paediatric Aquatics.
Patricia began her adventure working at Rehabilita Mayo Clinic in Roodepoort in January 2017 where she is currently treating neurological adult and paediatric patients. Her passion for neurology continues to grow, where she hopes to make a difference in the lives of her patients. She believes that there is always something that can be done.
She believes that things happen for a reason but, “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
