ADULT AND PAEDIATRIC NEURO PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Amirah graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 2017 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She then went on to complete her community service at the Johannesburg Metropolitan District where she straddled between two clinics, namely Mofolo CHC & Lenasia CHC. At both clinics, she worked within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, and dietician.
During her community service year, she gained experience treating adults with orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and children with cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental delay. She participated in clinic outreach programs such as hydrotherapy, hippotherapy, and early childhood intervention screening as part of the multi-disciplinary team. During this first year working as a physiotherapist, she discovered a love for paediatric physiotherapy.
In 2018 Amirah attended a HiTech Therapy CLX Theraband Training, a Cerebral Palsy Workshop, and a Spasticity Workshop.
After completing her community service, she spent a few months working as a locum physiotherapist at Netcare Milpark Hospital and Mediclinic Emfuleni. She then joined Rehabilita in June 2019 where she continues to build her knowledge and experience in neurological physiotherapy and her passion for paediatrics continues to blossom.
